The Mellow  Quark(  2009) Fl. E-Git, Perc

Well... information is not knowledge,  knowledge is not wisdom, wisdom is not truth, truth is not beauty, beauty is  not love, love is not music, music is the best.

The title  The Mellow Quark reminds us  of  the name of one of Frank Zappa's last big  projects.
If I  remember correctly, it was in the second half of the sixties, when the album  Freak Out induced my band to unleash wild Feedback sessions instead of playing  Tango and Foxtrot at a traditional German may dance. The audience fled the  dance floor and the host kicked us out.
My piece  was written in remembrance of Zappa; his happy, cynically anarchic virtuosity  is one of a kind. Nevertheless, the end of my piece is the attempt of a quote,  not a literal, but an atmospheric one: on the album Joe’s Garage, Zappa has a groupie called  Mary verbalize his credo (for once in a non-cynical way). Playing along as the  silly party girl for a while, she appears again at the end of the composition,   speaking the words “… Well… information is not knowledge, knowledge is not  wisdom, wisdom is not truth, truth is not beauty, beauty is not love, love is  not music, music is the best.”
